Land-locked countries of Africa
The Nordic Africa Institute.
1973 (English)Conference proceedings (editor) (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

[Papers from] the seminar on the African land-locked countries organized by the Scandinavian Institute of African Studies at Oslo, September 1972. Scholars and representatives of Scandinavian governments, institutions and press were invited to participate in the discussions on the political and economic aspects of fourteen African countries whose access to the sea depends on their neighbours. The focus was largely on southern Africa, where as one of the authors put it "to be black and land-locked in southern Africa is a lonely and expensive experience". This volume contains the seminar papers and selected documents and bibliography.
